Recession hits the Utah MLM Valley

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Historically recessions are great opportunities for people with the right knowledge and willingness to take action.  The wealth gap widens.  The rich get richer and the poor, … yep they get poorer.  The middle class shrinks.

It will be no different with network marketing.  Network marketing as an industry has experience unprecedented success lately and now it’s back to reality.  Yes there are more and more people looking for secondary income so there will be more awareness than ever but those companies and distributors who’s business models were dependent on consumers willingness to part with extra income are going to have a serious wake up call.

How Hungry Are You REALLY??

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

Wow, I just received this recently from one of my top producers and it sent chills down my spine.  Recruit up and you will find people like these in your downline.  Enjoy and let this motivate you that there ARE people out there that think like this that can take your business to a whole new level.

The following is by Richard Pamplin – www.ElectricBreakthrough.com

——————————

Ecclesiastes 10:15

“Fools are so exhausted by a little work that they can’t even find their way home.”

How many times have we all seen someone sign up for our business so excited they are on the verge of song – only to squander their opportunity and waste your time and theirs? I know from long years of personal experience how frustrating this can be.

The Reality – And The Power – Of The Numbers
As you begin to build your business, you will see that for every 10 or 20 people you talk to, one or two may be motivated enough to change their life and enroll into your business.

And for every ten to twenty people who actually enroll into your business (that means talking to at least 100 people for two minutes each = 200 minutes = an average of just three hours invested into your business), only one or two will ever engage and commit themselves to the journey.

Believe it or not, these are considered outstanding numbers, and they will surely make you rich, should you yourself engage and commit to the journey and stay the course.

Remember, it only takes ONE person who is totally committed to the process heart and soul, no matter what – to make both themselves and YOU filthy, stinking rich.

Quite a thought isn’t it?

Just one.

What if it took you six months to find such a person? A year? Would it be worth it to you? Will your current job make you filthy stinking rich in the next year?

It only takes ONE.

I have learned enough to know that the vast majority of people will, no matter how fantastic the opportunity is, fail to put aside their fears, excuses and self-importance, to actually engage in the business and produce results. The excuses are endless…

I’m too scared

I’m too tired

I’m too busy

I’m too famous

No one knows who I am

I don’t know anybody

I’m too infamous

I’m too good for this

I’m not good enough for this

I deserve more than this

I don’t deserve this

I’m to confused

I don’t know enough about the comp plan, the product, the company…

yadda, yadda, and more yadda…

To a successful person, hearing these excuses is akin to listening to someone scratching their long, craggy fingernails down a chalkboard. It’s highly irritating, has no redeeming characteristics and is completely unnecessary.

We have all heard people give us these excuses before – all the lame “reasons” why this will never work for them – and perhaps, if we’re honest, we have given the same excuses why we cannot succeed to ourselves?

I know I have been guilty of this inexcusable behavior before. But it wasn’t until I began to take personal stock – and personal responsibility – to follow my mentor’s example and engage and commit myself totally to the process of building MY business, vowing to take on the bad and the good with equal commitment no matter what – and followed through with that commitment… that I began to see remarkable results in my business and income.

It really all comes down to one thing…

HOW HUNGRY ARE YOU?

I mean really. Think about it. How completely, totally, desperately, ravenously hungry are you for change in your life?

Are you really hungry? Or just in love with the IDEA of bring hungry? In love with the IDEA of success. You see most people are in a one-sided romance with success.

They dream about it, think about it, fantasize about it…and yet do nothing to bring it about. Has this been anyone you know? Has this per chance been YOU?

There’s GOOD news and BAD news…

First The GOOD News

The good news…in fact the fantastic news…is that you can CHANGE this in your life right here, right now – by making a decision to CHANGE your destructive financial behavior and committing to that change for the long haul.

You don’t need to think about it. You don’t need to ponder it. You don’t need to pray about it (I already prayed for you and God said it was OK!). You don’t need to ask anyone about it.

Now, The BAD News

If you fail to change your thinking, and therefore your actions, you will continue to produce the same results in your life. Is that good news?

Anyone who doesn’t recognize their need for personal change doesn’t belong in any business – period.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS “GIVING IT A TRY”!
THERE IS ONLY TOTAL COMMITMENT!

So what do you tell someone who wants to sign up in your business and says to you, “Ill just give it a try for awhile and see if this works…”?

Here’s what you should tell them…

If you plan on just, “Giving it all a try for awhile”, don’t bother! Please don’t waste my time or yours. Stay home, watch The Simpsons, Dancing With The Stars, American Idol and Dog The Bounty Hunter, and stay on your couch broke, struggling, in debt and comfortably miserable.

Because that’s the choice you’re making if you decide to “Give it all a try for awhile”! There is no commitment whatsoever in Giving anything a “try”!

And in the absence of commitment, there can only be one result:

Absolute failure.

It’s Time To Examine Yourself And Your Motives

I will ask you again. Are you hungry? Really, Truly Hungry?
Are you hungry and committed enough…

To accept the inevitable rejection you will face?

To accept occasional ridicule from uninformed minds as you build success in your business?

To treat your business as a business, investing a generous amount of your TIME, EFFORT, FINANCES, DEVOTION AND ENERGY to build permanent wealth?

To run the race all the way to the finish line without quitting?

To completely finish what you begin?

To love others enough to lead them out of their struggle and into a new life?

To work like there is no tomorrow to secure your family’s future and the futures of countless others?

To do whatever It takes to cross the finish line, never again to look back on financial hardship and uncertainty?

Don’t answer “YES!” without carefully examining your motives and willingness to engage and commit to the journey.

And What’s On The Other Side Of All This Hard Work
And Commitment?

Freedom.
Sweet, total, complete  freedom.

What kind of freedom?

Freedom from debt.

Freedom from financial uncertainty.

Freedom from anxiety.

Freedom from insomnia.

Freedom from stress.

Freedom to live in peace.

Freedom to have all bills paid and all debts eliminated forever.

Freedom to pursue adventures you have dreamed about.

Freedom to spend your TIME as you see fit, with those you love most until the day you die.

Now THAT’S a journey worth totally engaging and committing to.

I hope you agree.

Most people, regardless of our attempts to move them, will choose to ignore the call of the leader and choose instead to remain on the sidelines where it is more comfortable – miserable but comfortable.

So be it.

How will you choose? The decision is before you now. Not tomorrow, or a month from today. Now.

Are you hungry for a change? Really, truly hungry? I will close with this short version of a story once told to me by my mentor.

There was once a poor man who, like most other people around him, lived in mediocrity and financial struggle. Day after day, year in and year out, he lived paycheck to paycheck, hand to mouth, and always worried about his present and future.

One day he became so fed up with his circumstances, that he decided it was high-time for a change. He had heard the stories of a wise sage who lived on the highest hilltop by a sparkling river, and was said to be the wealthiest and happiest person in the land.

It was also said that this wise sage possessed all the secrets of success and that he was willing to share them with anyone who would listen – but rarely did anyone venture up the hill to bother speaking with him.

And so the poor man ventured up the hill in search of the wise sage. Upon arriving at the sage’s house, he introduced himself and got right down to business. “Wise sage”, he asked, “what is the ultimate secret of success?”

Without a word the wise sage rose and began walking to the river, saying, “Follow me”. And so the man did.

At the river’s edge, the wise sage said, “Here is the secret of ultimate success and happiness”. Puzzled, the man said, “I don’t understand. The river is the secret?” “Move closer”, the sage told the man, “right up to the very edge of the river’s bank and peer closely into the waters”.

Still not sure what this was all about, but willing to try, the man complied. As he placed his face just above the water’s surface he suddenly felt the sage’s hand around the back of his neck, thrusting the man’s head under the water!

For long seconds, the sage held the man’s head under the water, as the man struggled brutally but in vain. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the sage released his grip and the man, out of air and about to drown, came blasting to the surface gasping in as much precious oxygen as he could.

After a few minutes, the man regained his composure and leered at the sage in disbelief. “Why would you do such a thing to me? I came to you for help and advice and all you did was try to kill me!”

“Not everything is as it seems”, said the wise sage.

“Answer me this question – When you were under the water struggling for your very survival, for your very life – what were you thinking about? Were you thinking about how cold the water was? Why I was doing this to you? How many fish were in the river? What you would have for dinner tomorrow? How busy your life was?” Tell me.”

“The man said, “No I didn’t think about any of those things. All I could think about was getting air! All I could think about was breathing again. I wanted oxygen more than I wanted anything else in the whole world”, said the man.

“And would you have fought to the death to gain that end” asked the sage?

“Of course I would have”, said the man.

“Very good”, said the sage. “When you want your life to change as badly as you want air to breathe…as badly as you want your very life…then you will have it.”

So what is the lesson?
That when you finally get angry enough about your present circumstances to finally do something about them… when you want change more then you want to breathe…more than you want to go on living…you will have it.

And nothing and no one will stop you.

How hungry are you?

Who am I to say all of this to you?

I am Richard Pamplin.

And I am hungry. I am Ravenous. I Crave change like I crave air. Like I crave my very life. I will run the race until it is finished. I care not how many injuries I will suffer along the path. I will crush my fears beneath my feet. I will laugh at my detractors, knowing it is they not I, who are foolish and unwise. I will overcome all obstacles set before me. I will have my freedom or die.

And I will not be denied.

So who are you?

May God Bless you, and Always Keep You Moving Forward!

Massive layoffs = massive opportunity for mlm

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

The following companies have announced job cuts since the start of 2009.

This is just the beginning my friends.  There will be many mlm businesses failing this year as well.  Some will thrive but some will flounder in an ecomomy where people are dumping all the “extras” out of their budget.  Have you adjusted your mlm business plan to take into account the current market conditions?  Don’t do another presentation until you can effectively demonstrate how your business is going to weather the current depression.  Ignoring the situation won’t change it.  Your prospects WILL JOIN your business but only if they believe you and your product and your company are the right place to stake their effort and their money during times when they can’t afford to make a mistake with either.

Pink slips could mean green slips for network marketers

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

A recent business week article goes beyond the obvious into the how and why behind a massive roll out of pink slips about to take place.  People are more scared than ever regarding their incomes.  Are you going to stand frozen from action or will you capitalize on this situation and realize that it is an opportunity.  If you represent a good network marketing company with a product of real value you stand positioned to create true wealth in the coming years.   Get plan and take massive action, in times of change there will big winners and big losers, which category will you fall in?

MLM in a depression/recession

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

We are headed toward some rough times.  Will your network marketing business flourish or flounder?  Traditionally speaking network marketing does well in a recession because people are looking for a backup plan and people are looking for some extra income just in case.

The question is whether we are quickly headed to just another recession or if we are headed toward a full blown depression.

In a recession people still have a fairly good confidence about themselves and the ability of others to purchase their products and join them in their business.  The problem comes when you are suddenly representing a product/service that is viewed as a luxury.  Luxuries become fantasies in a depressed economy.

Are you confident that you can show people a realistic plan to quickly recoup their investment and hit a break even point?  Do you have a system?  If so, does your prospecting system require a large outlay of investment that people are going to be afraid to part with in times of uncertainty then you are going to have some issues.

I’m not suggesting that you need a new mlm business.  I’m suggesting that you will likely need a new plan for your current mlm business.

MLM Myths Destined to Force you OUT of Business – Everyone is not a prospect!

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Shortly after mlm got started some 40 years ago the concept of making a list came into play.  The new school says throw your list out the window and the old school says its the most important thing you can do for your business.  The truth of the matter is that their both right, sort of.

Here is the deal, mlm is 90% prospecting/recruiting and 10% everything else.  Prospecting is about adding to your list and recruiting is about working your list.  While these two words don’t normally bring about happy thoughts by network marketers, I can guarantee that I’m not thinking about them in the same way you are.

What is prospecting?  To prospect means to search or look and therefore by default what they are looking for.  Instead of search and look most people try to transform and change.

Let me clarify something: everyone IS NOT a prospect.  This one concept alone could very well be one of the most dangerous, misunderstood and misused lines in MLM.

Viewing everybody as a prospect forces you to utilize all sorts of power persuasion techniques to convince people.

Naturally after going about the prospecting game this way most people end up quitting not long after starting. After all, you really do have to be a pretty good salesperson to be successful in the convincing business.  People are pretty resistant to any kind of change these days if you’ve not already noticed.

We are looking for two categories of people to be specific.

First off, we are looking for people that are looking, by this I mean people that are actively looking for additional income, a home business or just looking for more.  Now on the surface you may think that this would include everybody, but just the opposite is true.  Most people are comfortably uncomfortable with their lives of quite desparation. We are looking for people that are already.

Secondly, we are looking for people that are already in. Remember we are in this for the long haul, even if somebody is already working with another opportunity the professional networker realizes that this is most likely only a temporary situation.  The reality of the matter is that times change, mlm companies go out of business, they change comp plans, a thousand different things can cause distributors to get frustrated and quit.

The nicest part about people that are or have previously been involved in network marketing is that they are already sold on the concept to some degree or else they would have never gotten

started in the first place.

The beautiful thing about defining our target market is that they now become easier to find.

Think about it!

The more you define a niche or category of people the easier they become to find.  There are magazines, online communities, newsletters, clubs and blogs dedicated to millions of quirky interests of people.

How exactly would you go about searching for an MLM prospect if everyone was a prospect?  Wow people are everywhere this is great I’ll never run out of prospects… mmmm ya right.

Now start to think about where and how we can find MLM prospects in our target markets?

Think!

What do people that are looking for additional income do, more specifically, what do they search for off and online?  What do people that are in (and most likely struggling with) mlm do and what do they search for off and online?

Would you like to know SPECIFICALLY how to find the right prospects?

How nice would it be to have these prospects PURSUING YOU?

And what if you could actually MAKE MONEY THROUGHT THIS PROCESS?

Stats I dug up from back when I used to call MLM leads

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

You sign up.
You make your list.
You burn through some friendships and get ultra frustrated.

Don’t worry though because your company/team/sponsor has a “system” where you don’t have to beg friends/family to join.  All you need to do is buy some leads of pre-qualified people already interested in a home business.  Now you have an endless supply of people to talk to and you never have to talk to anybody you know ever again.

The novelty of the word “pre-qualified” wears off after the first your first 20 calls result in something similar to the following:

1 person is in grade school
5 bad numbers
6 people I could never get beyond voicemail
6 people said they were “no longer interested” or where “never interested”
1 people say its a bad time to talk, but all subsequent calls meet voicemail
1 people interested, send to website – never to hear from again

MMM, so much for the notion of “pre-qualified”

How about a better way, what if prospects were actually pursuing you?

It is a grand concept indeed and it’s the only one the big boys use.

My expertise is in old school network marketing and you can get the culmination of my 8 years by downloading my FREE MLM Training Manual.

Return of the MLM Jedi

Ok I will try to keep all Star Wars references and cheesy analigies to an absolute minimum but sometimes I’ll just not be able to help myself.

So what is my purpose here?  Well as all good politicians do, I’ll dodge the question and answer with my own question which is.. “what is your purpose here?”

Are you looking for that missing “force” that is keeping you from success in mlm?

YES there is such a thing as “THE SECRET” to success in mlm.

Have you always wondered what it is that makes the difference between a success and failure in network marketing?  The truth of the matter is that success in mlm is a lot like success with the opposite sex.. it’s all about attraction.

100% of your success in mlm is directly relational to recruiting.  If you cannot do this you are dead in the water.  90% of everything you do should be actions related to recruiting.

The question is are you attempting to recruit by pursuing prospects or are prospects pursuing you?
